Where can I find the regulations and definition for whey protein isolate?
Whey protein isolate (WPI) is not defined in the Code of Federal Regulations, but it is described in the Food and Drug Administration’s response to a petition filed by the American Dairy Products Institute (ADPI) for its recognition as GRAS (generally recognized as safe). According to the response, GRP 1G0371, WPI is produced from whey using physical separation techniques that remove sufficient nonprotein constituents from whey so that the finished dry product contains not less than 90% protein.
